How I work

Five habits that shape every project, whether it’s mine or a client’s.

  1. 01Legacy code is where I’m most useful.I genuinely like technical debt. Taming large systems that outgrew the assumptions they were built on is a rare skill, and it’s the one I’m best at.
  2. 02Deploys should take minutes.MySpeedPuzzling goes from push to production in about two and a half minutes. Every change passes PHPStan and a test suite sharded three ways.
  3. 03Own the infrastructure.Self-hosted on Hetzner, open-source components wherever possible. The chatbot from my RAG talk answers around 100 conversations a day for about $3 a month.
  4. 04Public by default.Whatever can be open source, is. That includes the entire MySpeedPuzzling codebase.
  5. 05Agents are on the team now.I was a sceptic. Today Claude Code runs for days on my projects, and I speak about how to make that work.
